Job Summary
We are seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing patient medical records to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records for overall quality and completeness
- Clarify documentation regarding diagnoses and/or procedures, co-morbid conditions, complications, and other reportable data elements
- Collaborate with physicians, non-physician clinicians, and coding professionals on an ongoing basis regarding documentation opportunities, coding, and reimbursement issues
- Utilize computer software to generate clarifications and improve documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school
- Experience in adult acute care, preferably in med/surg, critical care, emergency, or PACU settings
- Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM coding requirements
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
