The administrative Director of Radiation Oncology is primarily responsible to develop, implement, direct and provide overall management of the administrative infrastructure for a complex academic division/department with multiple locations and/or clinical divisions to support the chief/chair s academic, research and clinical program,

Scope of position requires administrative leadership in general administration, financial management, continuous improvement, labor relations, utilization and productivity management, marketing and business planning, department operations, and overall policy and procedure development and implementation,

The position has dual reporting to the physician chief/chair and Vice President for CINJ,

This position has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director, Department of Oncology,

Support chief/chair in the development and execution of long and short term department planning processes

Monitor inpatient and outpatient physician productivity, professional revenue, academic metrics, and other KPIs on a monthly basis in conjunction with the Department Chair/Division Chiefs,

Discuss volume variances, identify opportunities for improvements, and implement recommendations,

Exercise overall management/supervisory responsibility for widely-dispersed departmental support staff, faculty and residents

Supervise departmental staff such as business managers, program managers, management assistants, and medical secretaries,

Recommends the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, performance evaluations, transfers and/or disciplines according to employer policies,

Ensure that the staff are trained and evaluate on their knowledge of the adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs,

In collaboration with physician chief/chair, lead faculty annual review process, engage in recruitment and retention activities, and direct annual employee performance evaluation process,

Serve as administrative advisor for the division/departments academic appointments and promotions process in collaboration with Faculty Affairs,

Oversee all departmental academic and educational programs including fellowship programs, medical student and resident rotations, and continuing education requirements,

Coordinate on-boarding and off-boarding of faculty including preparing and presenting the financial plan and business justification for review by service line and combined medical group leadership and interfacing with CINJ and BHMG recruitment,

Oversee and is accountable for on-boarding activities including medical staff and payor credentialing, EMR training, coordination with clinical operations leadership, staffing assignments, and marketing/physician outreach,

Master's Degree in Hospital/business Administration or related field plus ten years of management experience with fiscal, program and personnel responsibilities, preferably in an academic environment,

A minimum of five years of experience in the formulation of health care policies and a detailed knowledge of physician office management and billing practices,

Exceptional communication skills and excellent team building skills,

Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment are required,

Demonstrated knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment,

Effective oral and communication skills,

Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint,

Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement,
