Job Overview:
The role of this Genetic Counselor will be to serve patients at Monmouth Southern Campus and Monmouth Medical Center. The position is hybrid working in-person and remote,
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master s degree in Genetics
- NJ State Licensed Genetic Counselor
Scheduling Requirements:
- Days to work
- FT
Essential Functions:
- Provide education and psychosocial counseling as required,
- Make recommendations to patients and families on genetic testing, cancer screening and cancer prevention as needed,
- Facilitate genetic testing by consenting the patient, locate the most accurate test through a commercial or research lab,
- Disclose and interpret the results for the patient,
- Make recommendations on follow-up care to patient and /or patient s physician,
- Provide educational materials and referrals for at-risk family members,
- Educate physicians and health professionals about cancer syndromes,
- Participate in the recruitment of patients for research studies,
- Generate educational materials and participate in lectures for the public,
- Responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas and medical errors, etc,
