What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Anesthesia Technician position at RWJBarnabas Health?
Job Overview:
The Lead Anesthesia Tech assists the Anesthesia Clinical Manager with the acquisition, distribution, inventory control and storage of all equipment, instrumentation and supplies for the Perioperative Services and in the organization and coordination of all materials.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma required
Knowledge of septic technique, medical terminology and clinical equipment application and function required.
Preferred:
3-5 years of experience in environmental service, Operating Room procedures, general Operating Room equipment and anesthesia equipment.
Cell Saver and Platelet Sequestration experience preferred.
Essential Functions:
Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care across the life span.
Attends in-service programs and participates in planning appropriate in-service programs for the ATs.
Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique, universal precautions/isolation precautions, OR dress code, latex allergy precaution, skin prep, fire, safety and disaster protocol, laser safety, patient positioning and body mechanics.
Demonstrates knowledge of the different gases, cell saver machine, different anesthesia and OR equipment.

Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to expedite safe, quality patient care.

Meets hospital and departmental Code of Conduct
Complies with conditions of employment as stated in the department/hospital policies, Infection Prevention Manual and all safety regulations.
Conforms to hospital policies related to allocated time period for breaks and meals.
Limits non-emergency personal calls to breaks and meal times.
Demonstrates hospital values & behaviors at all times.
