Job Overview:
The Patient Access Representatives is responsible for coordinating and facilitating registrations and admissions by obtaining pertinent demographic, financial and insurance information on all patients. The Patient Access Representatives ensures timely registration and promote patient satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 3 years in health care setting
Preferred:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift working: Days 8:30am-5:00pm
- Monday through Friday
- Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Greets all patients/visitors promptly and courteously directs to appropriate location
- Monitors the atmosphere in the waiting area and will help assist in notifying patients of wait times
- Interviews patients, relatives or other responsible persons in order to gather pertinent demographic and financial information for processing
- Obtain required forms, signatures and copies of insurance cards and personal identification for guarantee of payment/assignment of benefits all patients
- Timely notify patients of any possible delays to their schedule and provide updates as available
- Completes check-in and registration process accurately while maintaining patient privacy
- Using National Patient Safety Goals, correctly identifies and bands patients upon check-in
- Monitors and resolves appointment request work queues in addition to pre-registration work queues
- Forwards all outside MD insurance/medication orders to the Authorization Specialist for insurance verification and authorization/referral requirements
- Prioritizes work and resolve problems promptly and professional
- Will assist in scheduling of chemotherapy treatment visits
- Supports departmental policies, practices and initiatives
- Willing to float to Medical and Surgical oncology practices located in the cancer center
