What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Representative- Part Time Day position at RWJBarnabas Health?
The Patient Access Representative accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs. The Patient Access Representative will see patients on the inpatient floors to review documentation and obtain necessary demographic and insurance information. Additionally training will be for all areas of registration, inpatient, outpatient and emergency department.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or GED
Preferred:
- Prior experience with hospital Patient Access/Registration and EPIC
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- N/A
Scheduling Requirements:
- Two 8 hour shifts per week and one 4 hour shift per week
- Week 1 - Monday 10am-6pm, Tuesday 10am-2pm, Saturday 10am-6pm
- Week 2 - Sunday 10am-6pm, Monday 10am-2pm, Friday 10am-6pm
- Weekend and Holiday rotation
- Part Time, 20 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Utilizing the WOW s (workstation on wheels), will interview patients to obtain demographic and insurance information
- Accurately register patients into the EPIC system
- Obtain necessary signatures and resolve demographic and insurance edits
- Provide patient estimates on potential financial responsibilities and collect payments
