What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Escort position at RWJBarnabas Health?
Job Overview:
The Patient Escort transports patients within the hospital network in wheelchairs and stretchers from time of admission until discharge.
Qualifications:
Preferred:
- AHA BLS
- High School diploma or equivalent
Scheduling Requirements:
- Overnights, 11:00pm-7:30am
- Rotating weekends and holidays
- Per Diem
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates ability to interact and communicate appropriately with patients
- Functions in an emergency situation as a team member with guidance from supervisory personnel
- Maintains patient transport equipment (i.e. wheelchairs) in a safe manner
- Picks up and delivers equipment and specimens as requested
- Properly identifies the patient
- Records assignments in the Escort Log, signing patient on and off units
- Reports any equipment problems immediately to appropriate personnel
- Transports patients in a safe and timely manner
- Transports patients throughout various units/departments within Center
