Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the Logistics Bed Management Department, at Monmouth Medical Center.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Nursing Degree
  • BLS
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
  • Bed Management or at least one year acute care experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem Evening

Essential Functions:

Responsible for ensuring the appropriate placement of patients throughout the hospital,

Tracks and trends barriers to patient flow, makes recommendations and develops action plans to improve processes and systems,

Prepares monthly bed management analyses to identify opportunities for improvement in admission and discharge planning,

Communicates with physicians and nurses regarding emergency and direct admissions based on bed availability, treatment plan and admission criteria,

Initiates and maintains communication throughout the day with the Emergency Department, In-patient, Operating Room, Cath lab and other specialty areas,

Works with Case Management, Nursing, Environmental Services and other departments in order to proactively plan for patient admissions, discharges and transfers for effective patient flow,

Coordinates discharge planning and patient transfers both internal and external as required,

Circulates through hospital-constantly evaluating all needs for patient placement,
