Job Overview:
RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Pediatric Gastroenterology Nurse to the team. The Pediatric Gastroenterology Nurse will provide specialized care for infants, children, and teenagers with gastrointestinal disorders. The responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, implementing treatment plans, providing counseling to patients and their families, and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members.
Qualifications:
Required:
- New Jersey RN License
- BLS Certification approved by AHA
- Strong understanding of pediatric care, especially in the area of gastroenterology
Preferred:
- BA/BS/BSN degree
- Minimum 2 year of Pediatric RN experience
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- New Jersey RN License
- BLS Certification approved by AHA
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift, 40 hours/week
- Full-Time Schedule
Essential Functions:
- Conduct initial patient screenings, including patient history and physical examinations
- Update patient records with recent findings and treatments
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Provide education and guidance to patients and families about treatment plans and disease management
- Administer medication as prescribed by the pediatric gastroenterologist
- Conduct physical exams and health assessments to monitor the patient s condition
- Record patient information, including symptoms, medical history, and treatment responses
- Implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Monitor and manage potential side effects of treatment
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals such as dietitians and social workers to ensure comprehensive patient care
