Job Overview:
The Ultrasonographer performs ultrasound examinations to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of disease; follows standards set forth by the ARDMS.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers ARDMS required
- Successful completion of a comprehensive course In diagnostic medical ultrasound,
Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):
- Certified by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Registry eligible
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):
- Per Diem
- Day
- 8-5
Essential Functions:
- Prepares & sends specimens to labs in the absence of the secretary.
- Prepares exam rooms before patient enters & cleans room following patient's exit.
- Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures by assisting them onto the table & instructing them in the procedure that is being performed.
- Selects & records appropriate images for the permanent
- Performs imaging and related procedures in the following areas; Abdomen, OB/Gyn and small parts,
- The Ultrasonographer demonstrates knowledge of the human structure and functions, principles of sonic energy,
- Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure,
- Follows all established Ultrasound, Radiology and Hospital Policies and Procedures and is proficient exams both within and outside of the Department
