What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vascular Technician position at RWJBarnabas Health?
Job Overview:
Perform all necessary test protocols on patients in the lab, at bedside, in the Emergency Room, Recovery Room or in the Operating Room as deemed necessary by physician.

Education:
Completion of formal Ultrasound Training Program
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) status required.
A technologist may be hired as registry eligible. In such cases the Incumbent must sit for the registry exam within 6 months of hire and pass the exam within the first year of hire or be terminated.
Successful completion of all Orientation Programs; Completion of all mandatory compliance training
Experience in a Vascular Laboratory.
Essential Functions:
Provide a preliminary report for all patients;
Contact attending/referring physician if a critical finding is obtained.
Performs ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm compression under the direct supervision of vascular surgeon.
Assists vascular surgeon in ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm injections.
Maintains Vascular Laboratory standards as set by Inter-societal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
Clinical supervision of students attending UMDNJ and Long Island University Vascular Programs.
Participation in QA evaluations.
On-call availability.
Other required responsibilities in order to maintain the standard of excellence of the Vascular Lab.
Is knowledgeable of, adheres to and promotes safe practices (such as LeapFrog, Never Events, National Patient Safety Goals).
