Job Description:
This senior leadership role is responsible for the overall construction function of the Healthcare Sector. Ensuring best practices of integrated project delivery in partnership with the Regional Leadership responsible for the execution of Healthcare projects. Reports to the Healthcare Sector Leader. Partners with other Operations leaders on best practices and Business Development leaders to win work. Ensures that national subject matter expertise as well as national key account preferences and practices are fully coordinated with regional preconstruction, construction project management, and field operations.
Some things you can expect to do:
Drives collaboration between the Healthcare Sector and the Regions to maintain consistent best practices of construction operations across all regions and national Key Accounts. Regularly monitoring and improving basic construction systems (estimating, scheduling, safety, cost, and project management methods, etc.)
Coordinate primary leadership and support roles on projects with the Regional VP (Matrix Leadership). Project specific expertise and regional workloads will vary and may result in either the Sector VP or Regional VP having primary responsibility. When agreed to by both, the Sector VP may provide the daily direction and oversight for the project team in lieu of the execution Regional VP. In this case, it is the responsibility of the Sector VP to ensure alignment with the Regional VP in providing execution direction, and the responsibility of the Regional VP to provide support as needed by the team.
Adheres to and ensures standard process and technologies are implemented, including virtual design and construction, building integration modeling (BIM), integrated project delivery, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) and other project management applications.
Support Ryan's business development efforts by working with the VP's of Healthcare Real Estate Development, SVP of Project Development - Healthcare, Sector and Regional Leaders, and personal client connections, to promote and market Ryan's Healthcare construction expertise.
Ensure Ryan's operational excellence strategies and practices are clearly communicated during pursuits, and proposals include best in class personnel.
Creates and institutionalizes a learning organization for the unique requirements of construction operations in the Healthcare environment, meeting standards for training programs, quality assurance programs and client engagement. This will be particularly important for any regional staff assigned to Health Care projects.
Responsible for succession planning, i.e. hiring, mentoring and career development, for Sector's project management and field workforce.
Collaborates with Regional VP's to establish workforce distribution standards for Healthcare pursuits and projects, e.g. PC to PM ratios, revenue per PM goals, etc.
Is a leader within the external construction community, including active and visible trade association involvement.
Acts as cultural leader internally and externally, reflecting Ryan's mission and values. Develops strong relationships with key customers, project management and field staff.
Periodic travel to Regional offices and jobsites.
Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques, legal and insurance issues, and cost control.
Proven ability to manage various types and sizes of commercial projects.
Proven understanding of federal government build-to-suit project delivery (GSA and VA)
People management skills, including the ability to effectively provide direction and mentor others.
Good understanding of open-shop and union labor environments.
Four-year college degree in construction management, engineering, real estate management, or related field.
Advanced degree desired but not required.
20 years of commercial construction experience in a design-build or negotiated construction environment.
Experience in leading construction operations, business development, estimating and/or field management, in multiple geographic locations.

Compensation:
The base pay ranges from $196,500-$294,800/annually. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
