Finance Operations Manager
Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on, analytical Operations Finance Manager to support manufacturing operations. This position is vital to driving both financial and operational performance by working closely with plant operations, supply chain, and leadership. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in standard costing, operational analytics, and KPI development within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the strategic finance partner to plant operations, delivering actionable insights through daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics and variance analysis.
- Oversee the standard costing system—manage updates, conduct audits, and implement ongoing process improvements.
- Analyze core manufacturing cost drivers including labor, yield, overhead absorption, and inventory flow to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas of risk.
- Develop and maintain KPIs and operational dashboards to support data-driven decision-making and improve efficiency.
- Lead finance activities related to operations across budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close, including inventory valuation and COGS reporting.
- Support cost rollups, ensure bill of materials (BOM) accuracy, validate routings, and contribute to cost optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Production, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement teams on capital investments and cost-reduction strategies.
- Partner with IT and data teams to enhance financial reporting accuracy and automation through system improvements.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to support leadership and cross-functional initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance related to inventory and operational finance processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or operational finance setting.
- Strong expertise in standard costing, cost accounting, and plant finance operations.
- Demonstrated success in developing KPIs, dashboards, and performance tracking tools.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills are required.
- Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to communicate insights clearly and collaborate across teams.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high degree of ownership.
