The Senior Consultants provides knowledgeable technical preservation expertise assisting building owners through the complexity of the historic preservation process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
People:
- Creates a positive team member experience.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, displays a positive demeanor and team spirit.
- Client relationship and business development responsibilities
- May work more independently and autonomously with contractors, owners, and regulators on projects
- Documentation and expert advice to all levels of the process, creating a client-facing partnership with key regulators
Client:
- Increased public-facing representative of Ryan
- Works with project design teams to approve work necessary to meet preservation standard
Values:
- Higher degree of expertise in all phases of the historic preservation certification process
- Oversees the completion of the regulatory filings and amendments as required
- Consultative and persuasive with extensive knowledge of the historic preservation process
- Read and comprehend architectural plans as they pertain to the historic preservation process
- Reviews compliance with state and federal regulations to ensure projects are meet the SOI Standards
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with strong writing and research capabilities (in History, Architectural History, Historical Preservation or equivalent preferred)
- Minimum four years’ experience with historic tax credit application projects
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally, and write persuasive technical arguments
- Work experience in comparable federal, state, or local preservation programs is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and initiative working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to conduct research both online and in archives
- Ability to multi-task and work independently in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment
Computer Skills:
- Technical proficiency in Creative Cloud suite (especially InDesign) to layup photos, create maps, and photo keys
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license required.
Work Environment:
Standard indoor working environment.
Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
This position requires a fair amount of field activity
Exposure to workplace elements, such as dust, dirt, shavings
Independent travel requirement: 30 to 50%.
