Job Description:
RYCO Heavy Haul specializes in the transportation of oversized deliveries and heavy equipment. We prioritize safety, professionalism, and efficiency, and are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Escort Vehicle Driver to support our heavy haul operations. The ideal candidate would have experience with CDL driving or medium duty truck driving, route planning, and understand the characteristics & fundamentals of maneuvering a tractor trailer or other oversized loads where unconventional maneuvers and/or routes may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate an escort vehicle to guide oversized loads along designated routes.
- Communicate effectively with the truck driver and other team members to ensure safe transportation.
- Monitor traffic conditions and alert the driver of potential hazards.
- Assist in route planning, including identifying obstacles such as low bridges, narrow roads, or construction zones.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding oversized loads.
- Maintain the escort vehicle, ensuring it is clean, fueled, and equipped with necessary safety equipment such as flags, lights, and signs.
- Complete and submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding oversized loads preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by haul schedules.
- Experience in heavy haul or escort driving is a plus but not required; training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Willingness to work primarily in a vehicle and outdoors.
