Job Summary
RMI Surfaces is a leader in stone fabrication. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented CAD/Layout Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for working with AutoCAD (at an intermediate level) and operating our Layout software to prepare projects for our workshop. You will also interact with clients regularly to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- AutoCAD Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD at an intermediate level to create, modify, and update project drawings, ensuring all designs meet company and industry standards.
- Layout Software Operation: Manage and operate Slabsmith software to generate accurate digital layouts, plan cuts, and optimize material usage for production.
- Client Communication: Send drawings for approval to customers.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the production, sales, and project management teams to align on project requirements and deadlines.
- Quality Control: Verify measurements and ensure drawings are accurate and up to date before handing off to fabrication or installation teams.
- Documentation: Maintain organized project files and records to support smooth workflows and easy retrieval of project data.
- Inventory: Making sure that our photographic inventory system is up to date.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience using AutoCAD in a professional or academic environment required (intermediate level required—advanced level is not necessary).
- Software Skills: Must be comfortable using computers for many hours per day and have a good ability to learn new software quickly without aprehension.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both clients and internal teams.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to precision and accuracy.
- Team Player: A good and friendly attitude is key
