RYE Venue Management is a wedding and events venue management company currently operating 4 wedding and event venues in the West Michigan area. We are looking for an Operations Manager to help oversee the execution of events, event staff, and venue operations. This is an opportunity to join a growing company and work in a fun and fast paced environment. This is a full-time year round position with opportunities for advancement.

Role Summary:

  • The Operations Manager is responsible for maximizing day of guest satisfaction and event execution efficiency by managing venue logistics, scheduling, and venue readiness while ensuring accordance with specific standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage venue logistics to ensure venues are being cleaned, set up, broken down, maintained, staffed, and event information is being properly communicated.
  • Demonstrate brand values in daily leadership, maintaining a positive, effective, and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct function review with Sales Team, Planning Team, and/or client; adjusts specifications as necessary and performs follow-up to ensure all details are correct.
  • Select, train, supervise, develop, and counsel event staff.
  • Schedule venue maintenance, cleaning, staff, and third party vendors.
  • Manage time and attendance.
  • Analyze financial and operating information on an ongoing basis, to adjust labor, supplies, materials, and other costs to achieve budget.
  • Prepare and adhere to departmental budget.
  • Ensure that venues are set-up in accordance with customer satisfaction by supervising set-up staff and inspecting venues for event readiness.
  • Assure proper sanitation and hygiene techniques with staff.
  • Inspect venues regularly to ensure they are maintained and in excellent condition at all times.
  • Provide skills training to event staff, to provide value added service to guests.
  • Initiate purchase orders for event/venue items when necessary.
  • Ensure readiness and compliance in case of last-minute changes to event orders.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Team and Planning Team; participates in client site visits as needed.
  • Develop processes and service standards to maximize Event Satisfaction Scores.
  • Ensure compliance with Rye Venues brand standards.
  • Perform duties of direct reports, as needed.
  • Generate monthly reports for Executive Director and Accounting Team.
  • Other duties as required.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Prior hospitality management experience (weddings, social events, and corporate meetings/events, restaurant, hotel, etc).
  • Reliable, Strong Work Ethic & Core Values, Flexibility to Work Some Nights and Weekends, and Positive Attitude.

Work Environment:

  • This role operates in a professional office and event venue setting.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands described above as well as here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • This role would require the ability to lift (up to 25 lbs.) items, and possibly moving event equipment, stocking shelves, changing kegs, checking in orders, and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position. (40 hrs per week)
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday including weekend availability but not all weekends will be required. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during “core” work hours and available weekends when staffing needs dictate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57,498.72 - $64,577.07 per year
