As a Controller at Production Metals, you will be responsible for managing all business requirements and activities associated with financial matters and office administration. Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will promote business growth and establish business goals and budgets.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Directs and oversees all aspects of finance, accounting, Pentagon systems and office administration functions to ensure the efficient operation of these departments; liaises with Ryerson Accounting, Treasury, Credit, IT and Human Resources departments to provide support within these areas
- Manages software to ensure efficient business processes and accurate sales, operational and financial information
- Conducts the month-end close process including development and entry of journal entries, reconciling general ledger balances and bank account reconciliations
- Leads the annual budgeting and planning process; provides leadership in the continuous evaluation of organizational performance against the annual budget and long-term strategy, and of short and long-term strategic financial objectives
- Directs the implementation of new practices and procedures, and efficient control and utilization of resources
- Provides coaching, mentoring and leadership to direct reports; develops and maintains positive employee relations; identifies developmental and training needs, and as needed, provides constructive feedback to direct and indirect reports
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state and local regulatory agencies regarding financial reporting, taxes
- Manages third-party relationships, including but not limited to vendors, customers, banks, and IT technical support

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- 5 or more years of experience in a Controller capacity
- Experience implementing and managing software including process mapping, training for new procedures and being the champion of the full utilization of the system is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of business planning, budgeting, cash flow projection, financial analysis, as well as the application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), debt management and collections, and industry compliance standards
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills to effectively work with a diverse group of people, including developing relationships with senior leadership, customers, vendors, financial partners, and employees
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to function well as part of Production Metals leadership team
- Effective communication skills and proactive interaction to achieve the organization’s operational and strategic goals
- Advanced computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial systems / databases; ability to learn and utilize all company software package
