What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Projects- Design & Construction position at Ryman Hospitality Properties?
Oversee construction projects for new buildings and alterations of existing structures, focused on Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. Responsible for planning, oversight, execution and management of related design, engineering, and construction processes.
- Direct activities of the Company's construction efforts for specific projects, from the onset of the design process through the completion and close-out of construction.
- Negotiate, document and manage relationships with consultants and contractors.
- Oversee development of project budgets and schedules and implementation. Ensure targets are met.
- Ensure strategic direction provided by senior management, including Company brand standards, is implemented within every project.
- Work with city, county and state officials to ensure proper permits are granted for building projects.
- Review prospective constructive projects and provide management with information in support of the evaluation of prospective new opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field required; Architecture or Construction Management preferred
- Additional industry certifications and continued education preferred
Experience
- 10 years experience in large, complex hospitality construction projects and a superior understanding of the construction industry and construction practices
- 7 years experience in project leadership role with responsibility for project budget, schedule and the supervision of design and construction project team
- Must have extensive experience representing the client owner on all aspects of large construction projects (negotiations, documentation, bidding, management of consultants, dispute resolution, cost tracking controls and budget reporting systems), as well as leading a team of professionals
- Must have experience in dealing with construction trade unions and union issues
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions at the executive level
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills necessary
Licenses / Certifications
- OSHA training required within 90 days of hire
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required
This position requires a pre-employment drug screening (4-panel: phencyclidine, cocaine,
amphetamines, and opiates).
Pay Range: 150K-190K (Depending on qualifications)
