Job Functions
-
Analyze Product drawings and specifications to develop efficient machining processes. Select appropriate cutting tools, materials, and machining parameters based on the part requirements. Design or knowledge of tooling fixtures and workholding to ensure accuracy and repeatability. Conduct feasibility studies to identify potential manufacturing challenges.

Write CNC programs using CAM software to generate precise machining paths on CNC machines. Optimize programs for efficiency and cycle time reduction. Verify programs through simulations to minimize errors.

Set Up and operate CNC machines according to established procedures. Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality. Monitor and analyze process data to maintain quality consistency.

Collaborate with the production department to resolve manufacturing issues. Provide technical support on the manufacturing floor.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes.

Provides engineering support to the machining departments for problems that require engineering expertise. Works to optimize manufacturing operations, such as minimum production of defectives, maximize machine up time, cycle time and reduce process variability.

Performs test cuts for specific customer applications. Documentation of the testing and presentation of the test cut to the customer are part of this responsibility.

Prepares required reports on machining operation for continual improvement.

Keeps abreast of new processes, materials, etc., through a planned reading program, formal training courses, seminars, membership in technical societies, visitations to trade shows, vendors, and other manufacturing facilities.

Has some input into budget creation.
