Lead Behavior Specialist
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide guidance and direction to Behavior Specialists on swing and weekend shifts.
- Coordinate with Program Supervisor to assist/share in covering open shifts on weekends and swings.
- Assist in training and orienting Behavior Specialists via role modeling, coaching, and providing constructive feedback (credible, ARC model and FIRS curriculum).
- Assist in monitoring and assessing Behavior Specialists’ skills and abilities in order to report strengths and growth areas to Program Supervisor.
- Assume responsibility for overseeing program components (e.g. supply ordering, record reviews, etc.) as directed by Program Supervisor.
- Facilitate and support all program activities, including skills groups, meals and snacks, and outings.
- Assist clients to learn coping skills, manage behaviors, and regulate emotions.
- Maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries and awareness regarding clients, families, co-workers, and community resources, etc.
- Consistently role model appropriate behaviors, emotions, and communication skills, i.e., anger management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain paperwork in accordance with state and federal laws and credentialing.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (MH field beneficial) or high school education/GED with at least one year combination of experience and training working with children, youth, and/or families, preferably in a mental health related setting.
- Valid WA state driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to drive agency vehicles.
- Acceptance and ability to work with individuals and families with a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices with the ability to apply a social justice and equity lens to all aspects of this work.
- Experience working with youth needing higher levels of mental health care (preferred).

Behavior Specialists create and maintain a positive, safe, and therapeutic environment while assisting clients in meeting their treatment goals. The role of Behavior Specialist includes supporting and facilitating therapeutic groups, promoting an affirming treatment environment, maintaining daily routines, and assisting in tasks related to client care, such as meal preparation.
As the Lead, you'll provide a consistent therapeutic milieu through direct care and supervision of youth in respite, in our Family Intervention Restorative Services (FIRS) program. You'll engage youth with high support needs in evidence-based treatment using a trauma-informed and DEI framework.
