On-Call Behavior Specialist I – Intensive Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and Residential Programs

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and support all program activities, including skills groups, meals and snacks, and outings.
  • Assist clients to learn coping skills, manage behaviors, and regulate emotions.
  • Maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries and awareness regarding clients, families, co-workers, and community resources, etc.
  • Consistently role model appropriate behaviors, emotions, and communication skills, i.e., anger management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain paperwork in accordance with state and federal laws and credentialing.
  • Additional responsibilities may be required depending on the specific program.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (MH field beneficial) or high school education/GED with at least one year combination of experience and training working with children, youth, and/or families, preferably in a mental health related setting.
  • Valid WA state driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to drive agency vehicles.
  • Acceptance and ability to work with individuals and families with a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices with the ability to apply a social justice and equity lens to all aspects of this work.
  • Experience working with youth, eating disorders, neurodivergent populations, or higher levels of mental health care (preferred).

Ryther offers several higher levels of care programs focused on serving children and adolescents with behavioral health needs. As a Behavior Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of multidisciplinary teams across different levels of care that utilize evidence-based and best practices models of care. Programs where an on-call behavior specialist may work include DBT Intensive Outpatient, Neurodivergent-Informed Anxiety and OCD Partial Hospitalization, Eating Disorder Partial Hospitalization, and Family Intervention Restorative Services (FIRS).

The Behavior Specialist will create and maintain a positive, safe, and therapeutic environment while assisting clients in meeting their treatment goals. The role of Behavior Specialist includes providing direct client care, supporting and facilitating therapeutic groups, promoting an affirming treatment environment, maintaining daily routines, and assisting in tasks related to client care, such as meal preparation.

Schedule: Dependent on the program. Daytime, swing, and night shifts available.

Work Location: 2400 NE 95th St, Seattle WA 98115 OR 300 14th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122 depending on program.
