General Description: Primary responsibility in the TS 16949 - Lean Environment is efficient utilization of material handling/flow of materials and packaging throughout the value stream. Coordinates activities of all work cells and the plant as it relates to materials, components, returnable and expendable packaging. Does not allow material/component/container to run out due to own shortcomings.

Responsibilities (or Duties): includes but is not limited to the following,

  • Confers daily with the supervisor to coordinate priorities/activities. Visually and/or via KANBAN determines what materials are needed for cells and delivers materials.
  • Communicates needs via email/text or verbally to warehouse to get materials staged for pickup.
  • Ensures proper boxes, returnables and/or skids are at each work cell as needed.
  • Transfers any WIP (work in process) as needed.
  • Retrieves Full Goods, whether gaylords or boxes/skids & replace with new Gaylord, boxes or skids from work cells for shipping and ensures that proper labeling/lot tags are affixed.
  • Stock/replenish all materials and components for assemblies as needed.
  • Ensures all returnable and handling totes are clean and dry.
  • Ensures all materials and components are identified correctly using proper documentation.
  • Ensures Customer owned and/or company owned tooling, equipment, vehicles, quality gages-tools, materials & components are handled safely and carefully to ensure preservation of customer/company owned tools, materials and components, etc.
  • Immediately STOPS-CALL-WAITS if damaged tools, quality gages-tools, materials & components are found or damaged by TM.
  • Inputs all pertinent information accurately & timely into IQMS.****
  • Set up and ensures that FIFO (first-in first-out) is being maintained with all materials and components.
  • May make trips for materials and components using company truck. Loads and unloads trucks using tow motors or pallet jacks.
  • Breaks down all cardboard for recycle pickup.
  • Help keep cells organized & gaylords/containers square & within tape – NORMAL
  • Will be cross trained for the shipping-receiving & route driver functions.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be Computer Literate – Must be able to use MS Word, Excel, use shipping database, print/edit/construct labels, UPS/FEDX Internet shipping instructions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is seasonally exposed to extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some areas the noise level is high.
  • Tow Motor experince and certification

Skills:

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work Instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
