Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Duties
- Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their personal care needs are met.
- Assist with meal preparation, cooking, and dietary needs while promoting healthy eating habits.
- Support clients in memory care activities and engage them in meaningful interactions to enhance cognitive function.
- Help clients with mobility and physical assistance, including lifting when necessary.
- Advocate for resident rights, ensuring that all clients are treated with dignity and respect.
- Facilitate participation in community activities and encourage socialization among peers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide hospice care when required, ensuring comfort and dignity for clients at the end of life.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy practices is essential.
- Familiarity with memory care techniques and patient care best practices is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with lifting and assisting clients as needed.
