Marketing Manager
About the Company – S. B. Ballard Construction Company is seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to lead and oversee our marketing strategies and efforts. We are a leading General Contractor/Construction Manager servicing the Mid-Atlantic region and our headquarters is located in Virginia Beach, VA.
The Marketing Manager will be essential in this effort, responsible for developing year-long strategic plans, creating and executing marketing campaigns, managing budgets, and leading projects and team members. This role will provide strategic leadership from both market and product perspectives to the management team. Additionally, this position offers numerous opportunities for professional development and advancement as we strive to meet our growth objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have experience in coordinating and managing all aspects of the RFQ/RFP process, including answering all requirements, assisting with narrative write-ups, and reviewing and submitting RFQ and RFP proposals.
- Responsible for the annual marketing plan, strategy, and team strengthening.
- Drive the implementation of marketing campaigns that meet business objectives
- Assist and support market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data for short- and long-term market forecasts and reports.
- Lead a diverse team in a demanding environment with high-performance expectations, while developing and overseeing the annual department budget.
- Collaborate with the Operations and Business Development teams to develop strategies and create an impactful message for presentations.
- Mentor the teams to obtain a successful RFQ/RFP process and oral presentations.
- The incumbent must attend EDA, City Council, and School Board meetings, along with necessary pre-bid meetings.
- Manage the strategic pursuit lifecycle, including overseeing materials developed during a pursuit.
- Work with internal and external business partners to support the design, development, and compliance of marketing collateral, including advertising, proposals, and presentations.
- Continuously develop strategic initiatives to support the team's efforts, including informational packets, proposals, and presentations.
- Drive the development of targeted content that aligns with the S.B. Ballard way.
- Assist in brand perception research and leverage other research available to refine objectives and strategies, evaluate effectiveness, and optimize performance for the team.
- Define key performance indicators and meet and exceed performance targets.
- Conduct in-depth assessments of the performance of marketing campaigns, events, and digital marketing efforts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Present findings to the senior management team to support business plan development, forecasting, and future implementation.
- Utilize assessment results to decrease marketing spend.
- Develop a deep understanding of the construction industry and its changing market dynamics for strategic planning and growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Be a Communicator – minimize email correspondence and focus on in-person and on-the-phone communications – This is a hands-on position that requires high-level communication skills
- A self-starter and leader with the initiative, skill, and personal commitment required to concurrently manage multiple projects and details and bring tasks and projects to full completion
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Be a team player and collaborator/hands-on participant in each project until the end
- Ability to prepare written documentation and proposal requests – Assist with writing pertinent RFIs and clarifications.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel a must) and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and presentation skills, both written and oral
- A solid working knowledge of desktop publishing software and graphics programs (Adobe Creative Suite), word processing programs (Microsoft Word) and presentation software (PowerPoint)
- A working knowledge of collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, etc.
- This is an in-person, on-site position – no telecommuting
- AEC Industry Experience (Preferred)
- Military Pre-Quals experience, CM-at-Risk, and Pre Quals (State, Private, Federal)
- writing, reviewing, and submitting RFQ and RFP proposals: 5 years (Required)
