This role requires a technical expert in structural design within alternative delivery projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead structural design efforts for alternative delivery projects, ensuring technical expertise and solutions for complex design issues.
- Develop and manage project design, including resource planning, budgeting, and team coordination with internal and external engineers, consultants, and clients.
- Review design submittals for compliance with contract and quality requirements, optimizing designs for cost, schedule, and efficiency.
- Act as the primary contact for resolving technical design challenges, ensuring timely project completion and quality standards.
- Manage project progress, monitor design schedules, and prepare Design Progress Reports.
- Foster collaboration across teams, including joint venture partners, stakeholders, developers, and subcontractors.
- Provide input on design strategies, risk mitigation, and technical solutions for infrastructure projects.
- 10 years of experience in alternative delivery projects with a structural engineering background, including progressive leadership and management experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and DOT regulations.
- Proficient in CAD and other engineering software.
- Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects ($500M ), with strong problem-solving and optimization skills.
- Ability to maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and construction partners.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods (e.g., DB, CMGC, P3).
- Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, P-6), and on-site experience.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- This permanent staff role is based in Pittsburgh PA (relocation may be provided), other company offices, or remote depending on the candidate.

- Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
- Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend, and apply complex material, data, and instruction – prepare, provide, and convey diversified information.
- Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically with less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.). Moderate dexterity – regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination.
- Work has periodic stress due to frequent goals and deadlines, and responsibility associated with the role.
