Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States can be found in the JOB INFO section below. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about System Design and Innovation? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Technology Breakthrough and Innovation team. As a Manager-Vacuum Interrupter Engineering, you'll be crucial in ensuring continued innovation and supporting our diverse team.
The Technology & Breakthrough Innovation (T&BI) team drives the creation of new product solutions for S&C's customers by exploiting new technologies and enabling breakthrough product development for the fast-evolving, intelligent power grid. This role supports the development and production of Vacuum Interrupter technologies using specialized prototyping and testing laboratories that lead to new S&C breakthrough products. As an experienced senior engineer in plasma physics, you will have the opportunity to design and test devices that interrupt powerful short-circuits, collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to design and execute robust experimental test programs, and analyze datasets to optimize practical designs that can be implemented in a manufacturing environment.
S&C Electric Company's leadership position in electric power system innovation comes from identifying specialist opportunities and creating the products required to meet them. To continue to pursue this means we are now building our capability in vacuum interruption technology, so that we can create the unique interrupters we need to meet our highly specialized needs. As part of that effort we are seeking a leader for the vacuum interrupter engineering team, someone who can make us self-reliant in vacuum interrupting technology and build the team to support this capability for the long term. The successful candidate will report to the VP - Technology and Breakthrough Innovation and be based in Chicago.
