The Payroll/Benefits Specialist is responsible for coordinating and performing all aspects of the payroll function in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies. This position will partner with individuals at all levels of the organization while displaying decision-making skills that support the company and payroll practices. The Payroll/Benefits Specialist must have a strong sense of urgency and be capable of adapting to change with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls for specific business units and employee groups.
- Provide subject matter expertise within HR and to cross-functional departments ensuring quality service and timely issue resolution.
- Collect, verify, enter and audit payroll and benefits-related employee data and calculations in ADP WorkforceNow while maintaining compliance standards.
- Process batches for payroll to include creating new templates, calculating data and balancing for accuracy.
- Communicate cross-functionally regarding payroll processing changes and exceptions.
- Complete mandatory quarterly and annual reports.
- Participate in and coordinate staff training sessions on payroll practices (i.e. new supervisor training, system updates, employee training, etc.).
- Maintain system configurations in ADP WorkforceNow and Enterprise e-time.
- Run standard and ad hoc reports upon request.
- Address employee questions regarding benefit enrollments and claim concerns/clarifications while engaging the benefit carriers as necessary.
- Support the open enrollment process annually beginning in late 3rd quarter and continuing into 4th quarter; including but not limited to employee education, approving changes and obtaining relevant documentation.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and administrator of leave programs in alignment with applicable federal and state employment laws as well as company policies and practices for FMLA, ADA and workers' compensation and other leave cases.
- Engage with business units, employees and vendors as the liaison and consultant for leave and workers' compensation cases while ensuring proper documentation and communication.
- Evaluate enterprise-wise payroll, benefit and leave processes for efficiency and optimization and manage project from initiation through delivery.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of progressive experience in payroll, benefits, leave administration and workers' compensation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- HR or Payroll certification a plus.
- Experience using ADP WorkforceNow and Enterprise e-time strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage projects from initiation through delivery.
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels within the organization and provide excellent customer service.
