Paving Crew Laborer

We are currently looking for new paving crew members to join our team

Skills:

· Experience operating a paver & screed, roller, skid steer or other essential paving equipment

· Experience with paving related tasks such as raking, luting, shoveling, and laboring on a job site

• Operate a paving roller to compact asphalt and achieve smooth surfaces
• Work closely with the crew to ensure quality and efficiency
• Inspect and maintain equipment for safe and optimal operation
• Follow safety regulations and job site protocols
• Work independently and as a member of a crew on active job sites
• Perform manual/physical labor/lift at least 50 pounds
• Work in varied weather and site conditions including around traffic
• Use basic hand and power tools
• Understand basic math and ability to read a tape measure
• Understanding or willingness to learn paving operations

Requirements:

• Experience preferred but not required - experience in other related trades (i.e. concrete, excavation, general construction etc.)
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, managers, and customers
• Ability to produce work up to our in-house standards and quality checklist
• Ability to work shifts exceeding 8 to 10 hours - weekends on occasion
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have reliable transportation to arrive at the shop on time every day
• Must be able to provide legal right to work in the U.S. as S&G participates in E-Verify
• Possess a valid driver’s license

Physical Abilities:

• Ability to lift 50 ( /-) pounds
• Ability to twist, turn, and bend continuously
• Ability to spend multiple hours on feet
• Ability to push, pull and carry objects
• Ability to carry small to large tools in and around the job site
• Ability to walk, stand, and kneel for long periods of time
• Ability to perform small detailed tasks

Work environment:

• Exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles such as dust, dirt, fumes, etc
• Ability to work in an external environment and under many weather conditions such as heat and cold, and exposure to vibration and/or loud noise
• Will be exposed to working in and around heavy equipment in motion, must be continuously alert to the equipment operators moving in and around the job site
• Employer will provide appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed but will be the responsibility of the employee to dress appropriately for the weather conditions

Salary and Benefits:

• Hourly wage is commensurate with qualifications & experience
• Occasional prevailing wage projects

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

• Paving: 3 years (Required)
• Heavy equipment operation: 3 years (Preferred)
