Structural Steel Project Manager
Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel fabrication and erecting, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects from inception to completion. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upon project award, schedule and organize Kickoff meetings to facilitate the pass of information from Estimating to the rest of the Production Team.
- Create Job Folder and ensure all information is compiled from Estimating and placed in the appropriate folders.
- Oversee the successful pass-off to the assigned Detailing Firm, making sure they have all necessary information, including accurate Scope of Work, identified Means & Methods, Project Sequencing, and understanding of S&H’s assigned Cost Codes.
- Ensure all Joist, Deck, Buyouts, & Subcontractors have been issued POs or be aware of why they haven’t & identify the action needed moving forward.
- Identify all necessary parties involved representing the General Contractor and Project Schedule & distribute information to the rest of the S&H team (Introduction Email).
- Submit (or facilitate submittal of) all pertinent documents at the beginning of the project, i.e., Safety Documentation, Welding Certificates, SDS, Hazard Communication, and other job-specific documentation.
- Ensure all ASIs and updates to contract drawings are received, filed & distributed to all relevant parties.
- Identify Detailing Schedule and distribute information accordingly.
- Identify, write & submit RFI’s as required and accurately track their status.
- Accurately track & submit all packages received from Detailer, Subcontractors, etc. to GC and all applicable parties.
- Oversee and identify all required Coordination Drawings needed to ensure the accuracy of S&H’s drawings and identify any potential cost items.
- Track and file all Coordination Drawings.
- Full review of all returned submittals & RFI’s to ensure conformance to Contract Documents/Scope of Work and identify any discrepancies or unanswered questions.
- Identify all potential cost items and write, submit, track, and file all CORs.
- Keep up-to-date records of all CORs and follow up accordingly.
- Oversee the receipt of BFS drawings and ensure they are filed accurately in the Job Folder and FabSuite/Tekla EPM is kept up to date.
- Oversee all shop releases for fabrication, ensuring the shop is receiving accurate phasing to maintain a smooth shop flow and that the steel needed on-site first is purchased and fabricated in that manner.
- Purchase all Field Bolts & Hardware required on a project, ensuring conformance to Contract Documents.
- Accurately identify/set on-site dates and ensure the job site is ready for steel to be delivered.
- Closely coordinate with the Field Superintendent to ensure proper manpower is allocated and scheduled, and all required equipment is identified and scheduled.
- Ensure all dates, deliveries & mobilizations are communicated to the GC and all parties are within the same understanding.
- Attend schedule meetings/site meetings for all projects to ensure there are no miscommunications or misunderstandings.
- Write & maintain Job Status Reports weekly and be able to present accurately & concisely all pertinent information to the rest of the company in weekly production meetings.
- Work closely with the Finance Team in monthly WIP reports, be able to understand the information presented & accurately project Estimated Costs to Complete for all projects.
- Upon project completion & retention paid, schedule Job Closeout Meeting to review the project and ensure all lessons learned are communicated with the rest of the Production Team, Purchasing & Estimating to be taken into the next project.
- Ensure all projects are completed on Schedule & within Budget.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the steel fabrication and erecting industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale steel fabrication and erection projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed.

Salary : $95,000 - $120,000
