Fleet Operations Manager - FedEx Ground (5 years experience as FedEx BC)

Job Overview:
FedEx Ground is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day ground operations, with a key focus on ensuring the safety and efficiency of our drivers, trucks, and overall operational performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing ground logistics, a commitment to safety, and hands-on experience with vehicle maintenance. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to work long hours when needed to meet operational demands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety Leadership: Ensure the safety of all drivers and vehicles by enforcing FedEx Ground safety standards, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee and manage the maintenance of the FedEx Ground fleet, ensuring that trucks are properly maintained, inspected, and in optimal working condition to prevent downtime and service disruptions.
• Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of drivers, operations staff, and supervisors. Provide ongoing training, support, and motivation to maintain high safety standards and operational efficiency.
• Operational Efficiency: Manage daily operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and ensure that packages are processed, sorted, and delivered in a timely manner.
• Commitment to Long Hours: Be available to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak times or when operational needs require extended coverage.
• Problem Solving: Address and resolve any operational issues, such as driver concerns, vehicle breakdowns, or safety incidents, in a timely and effective manner.
• Compliance and Reporting: Ensure that all FedEx Ground operations comply with all regulations related to driver hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safety protocols. Provide regular reports on operational performance, safety metrics, and maintenance updates.
• Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure operational goals align with the company's objectives and drive continuous improvement in all areas of the operation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operations management role, preferably within FedEx Ground
• Experience with vehicle maintenance and fleet management, including conducting regular inspections and addressing mechanical issues as they arise.
• Proven ability to manage and lead teams in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment with a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.
• Ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support operations and ensure service quality.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, including those specific to FedEx Ground operations and the transportation industry.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address and resolve operational challenges quickly and efficiently.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff to achieve operational goals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $180.00 - $200.00 per day
