We are seeking an optometrist to provide 1) consultative examination and 2) complete a doctor report for Department of Social Security Disability Income applicants. Medical exams are not for the purpose of delivering medical treatment but is to provide a recent snapshot of a claimant's conditions and various limitations. You do not need to provide Medical Liability Insurance as you will be providing an assessment only (no treatment).
S&L Medical Group has been providing medical examination for Department of Social Security for past 28 years and have 12 clinics in Van Nuys, San Fernando, Echo Park, El Monte, South Central LA, Lynwood, Long Beach, Anaheim, San Diego, Pomona, San Bernardino, and Victorville. https://www.slmedical.com/
Job Responsibilities:
As an optometrist at S&L Medical Group, your responsibilities will be very straight forward.
- Provide your available clinic hours by location 6 weeks in advance and our support staff does the rest to schedule the patient appointments
- Each patient appointment will consist of reviewing patient record and performing the examination
- Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner which consists of a standardized report (3-6) pages and a dictation of findings and diagnosis
- No on-call or emergency duties
Compensation:
- Contractor position with flexible schedule. Option to work full or part-time in any of the 12 locations any day(s) of the week
- Compensation based on number of patients examined
- Full day patient schedule pay is $960 ($60 per examinations, averaging 2 per hour.
$250k annualized @ 260 working days a year)
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Optometry (required)
- Current and valid California state license as an optometrist(required)
- Board eligible or certified (preferred). Residents in last year of residency can apply!
- Strong clinical background in evidence-based practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Reliable transportation for in person clinic examination appointment
