Web Designer

Job Summary

A public sector organization is seeking a Web Designer 3 with expertise in web development using WordPress and Drupal. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining responsive websites and web applications with a strong emphasis on user experience, accessibility, and cross-platform compatibility. The developer will work collaboratively with designers and stakeholders to implement innovative, user-centered digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead web development and design initiatives using modern frameworks.

Develop responsive user interfaces across desktop and mobile platforms.

Ensure code quality, functionality, and compatibility across browsers/devices.

Conduct debugging and testing prior to deployment.

Maintain and update existing websites with new content and features.

Integrate databases and third-party platforms (e.g., Workday, social media).

Ensure ADA and WCAG 2.1 web accessibility compliance.

Optimize performance and scalability of websites and applications.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers and IT staff.

Track analytics via Google Analytics and other tools for performance reporting.

Required Skills and Experience

3 years of experience with:

WordPress, Drupal, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, APIs

UI/UX principles and responsive web design

Web services (REST, SOAP)

Cross-browser/device compatibility standards

ADA web accessibility & WCAG 2.1

Web debugging and testing routines

Familiarity with website infrastructure and server-side development

Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

Preferred Skills

Google Analytics and web performance tracking

Adobe Creative Cloud suite

API integration with external platforms (e.g., Workday)

Experience with ESRI or mapping software
