Entry-Level Environmental Engineer

S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Entry-Level Environmental Engineer to become part of our Environmental team in Tampa, Florida. Join S&ME today and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients!
What You Will Do:
As an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer, you will work closely under the direction of a licensed engineer to gain extensive hands-on field experience. You will assist in preparing Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments and scoping of Phase 2 Site Assessments, as well as conducting delineation and remediation of various contaminants in soil, groundwater, and soil gas on commercial and industrial project sites.
- Conduct field investigations, including drilling of soil borings, installation of monitor wells, and identification of encountered soils.
- Perform groundwater and soil gas sampling for chemical analysis and other required environmental testing.
- Engage with management, contractors, and clients to ensure project transparency and provide regular progress updates.
- Prepare data tables, graphical presentations of data, and compare soil and groundwater data to State regulatory standards.
- Assist in drafting reports and proposals for small projects, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in assessments and documentation.
Who You Are:
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- You have 0-2 years of experience working on or coursework related to environmental/engineering in areas such as environmental assessment methods, due diligence processes, regulatory permitting, or environmental compliance.
- You have good business and technical writing skills.
- You have an Engineer in Training (EIT) license or are on track to obtain one.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions.
- Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day.
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment).
- Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites.
