Summary
The Consulting Associate Director for Oil, Midstream, and Downstream (OMD) America Downstream Consulting is a key member of the downstream consulting practice. This position is responsible for taking a significant role in executing consulting assignments related to refining, crude oil and refined product markets, managing consulting projects,, and assisting with business development.
You will be able to execute and deliver complex consulting projects, build and maintain strong client relationships, and identify new consulting opportunities for OMD Consulting. . You must have a fundamental and commercial understanding of the North American refining and supply businesses, including refining operations, markets, optimization, and technology. You will have the technical skills and experience to have an intuitive sense of refinery operations, as well as the economics and market factors which impact the operation. You must have demonstrated the ability to work in challenging situations and have the skills to build strong relationships within client companies and our internal organization. Excellent communication skills are critical to success.

What will you be doing?
  • Be a key contributor on consulting assignments including performing analysis and developing conclusions / outlooks for both the technical and market aspects as required for the project.
  • Be able to clearly summarize results in a report (written or presentation) and verbally.
  • Work with consulting project teams, and coordinate with our research groups to leverage SPGCI's industry leading insights and analysis
  • Demonstrate teamwork through collaboration with colleagues both within OMD America's consulting and colleagues in Europe, Middle East, and Asia downstream consulting groups as well as other areas including agriculture, automotive, and chemicals
  • Be knowledgeable SPGCI's subscription products and services, and represent the chemical, oil markets, midstream and downstream research to clients and prospects
  • In addition to executing consulting project, identify and develop consulting opportunities.,
  • Develop productive relationships within industry in among client companies to generate recurring consulting business and revenues
  • Travel as required (less than 25%)
What are we looking for?
  • 10 years refining-related experience acquired by working in industry. Experience working for consulting firms will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have worked in process engineering / operations at a facility, as well as gained experienced in planning and economics, including short-term / long-term refinery planning, and capital project evaluation.
  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge working in a refinery and have a strong understanding of the economics which drive the business. After gaining technical experience, the candidate may have worked in a marketing or trade function, which would considered a strong attribute.
  • Exposure to and a fundamental understanding of LP Modeling of refinery operations. The role will require guiding LP analysts on assignments as required, and interpretation of those results.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in engineering. A graduate degree in engineering and/or business is preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective/productive communications with key people at all levels within a company including analysis, mid-level management, and executive level clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to participate in and lead interdisciplinary teams for project assignments.
  • Must be highly organized and creative with accomplished time and project management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications required (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
