Grocery Outlet of South Pasadena is looking for cashier / clerks to join our team.

We are located at 1401 Huntington Dr. South Pasadena, CA 91030.

Responsibilities

CASHIERS-

Cashiers play a crucial role in the customer service experience, often being the last point of contact for customers during their shopping trip. They operate registers and scanners to process customer transactions, accurately handling cash and credit card payments. This includes receiving money, giving the correct change, and providing receipts.

DUTIES INCLUDE :

Scan and bag customer’s grocery items efficiently
Time management skills to handle peak times efficiently, manage queues, and minimize customer waiting time.
Process payments, handle cash, credit / debit cards, and issue receipts
Basic math knowledge, be able to provide accurate change and cash back
Promoting store promotions / sales and products
Greeting customers
Assist customers with product location within the store
Manage customer queries and complaints professionally
Keep the checkout area clean and orderly
Handle returns and exchanges of goods
Assist in restocking shelves around the register and front of store and maintaining inventory
Monitor till to ensure adequate cash available
Cleaning, mopping, dusting
Physical endurance to stand for long periods and occasionally lift objects and use a step stool

GROCERY CLERK-

Grocery Store Clerks play a crucial role in maintaining the operations of a grocery store, assisting customers and ensuring that the store is clean, well-stocked, and running smoothly. It is also a physically demanding position that requires the ability to stand, bend, squat, twist, lift, kneel, etc...

DUTIES INCLUDE :

Greeting and assisting customers, answering their questions, and offering guidance on product location

Physical stamina and strength for standing long hours, lifting heavy grocery items, and performing other physical tasks like stocking shelves and handling carts.

Rotate stock and check date codes on products

Restocking shelves and ensuring that all areas of the store are clean and organized

Operating cash registers, scanning and bagging groceries, and processing payments

Assisting in inventory management and receiving product deliveries

Maintaining proper stock levels on shelves and in the back stock area

Inspecting products for quality, removing damaged or expired goods from the shelves

Offering carryout services to customers, when necessary

Adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment

Conduct price checks for cashiers as needed

Collecting shopping carts and handbaskets

Qualifications

Previous work experience as a grocery store cashier / clerk or in a similar role in sales

Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS, and handheld scanners and printers

Good communication and time management skills.

Be able to interact effectively with customers, respond to their queries, and work amicably with other team members.

Physical stamina- able to stand, bend, squat, twist, lift, kneel, etc...

Attention to detail and basic mathematical skills

High School degree or equivalent

Note

We are also hiring for Supervisory roles. Candidates with more than 3 years of grocery experience may be ready for a supervisory role where they would oversee other clerks, resolve customer complaints, and ensure the smooth running of the store and inventories.

Available shifts and compensation : We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $16.50 / hour.
