TITLE: Engineering Intern
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: VP of Core Product Development/VP of Research & Development
JOB SUMMARY:
As an Engineering Intern with S&S Cycle, you will be assigned to work under the direction of senior engineers and assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work. These projects may involve the design of new products and/or modifications and upgrades to existing product lines. This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize your academic background and expand your knowledge and skillset.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities and progress and any associated data
Utilizes computer assisted engineering to perform different tasks
Assists with construction of prototypes
Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs
Perform basic fundamental design and modeling tasks
Participate in data research, collection and compilation efforts
Analyze and correlate scientific and engineering data and recognize discrepancies in results using a series of related detailed steps or processes.
Assist in the preparation of reports, studies, and technical memoranda.
Adhere to project deadlines and keep project leads informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.
Responsible for reporting on projects to ensure a quality product is produced in on schedule
Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions
Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be actively enrolled in a BS or MS engineering program
Self-motivated with a strong propensity for action, results, and continuous improvement
Strong analytical skills with the ability to think outside of the box
Demonstrated integrity, values, principles, and work ethic
Ability to work well in a team environment
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computer applications
Knowledge of 3D modeling software (Solidworks), AutoCAD, or Draftsight
Knowledge of Excel and/or Google Sheets
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an office environment with occasional exposure to production environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel or crawl.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
Must comply with safety equipment standards: safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toe shoes when present on production floor
