Position Overview
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to patients in various
healthcare settings, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with Illinois state laws and
regulations. The CNA assists with daily living activities, provides compassionate care, and
maintains a safe and hygienic environment for patients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care and Support
o Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing,
grooming, eating, and toileting.
o Provide mobility support, including assistance with walking, transfers, and
positioning.
o Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood
pressure.
o Report changes in patient conditions to the supervising nurse or healthcare
provider.
2. Clinical Duties
o Assist with basic medical procedures and care as directed by a licensed nurse or
physician.
o Provide assistance with wound care, including dressing changes as per the care
plan.
o Ensure proper use and handling of medical equipment, adhering to safety and
infection control protocols.
3. Communication and Documentation
o Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members,
providing updates and addressing concerns.
o Document patient care, observations, and interventions accurately in patient
records.
o Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and patient privacy
standards.
4. Infection Control and Safety
o Follow infection control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and the use of
personal protective equipment (PPE).
o Implement safety measures to prevent patient falls and ensure a safe environment.
o Participate in safety and infection control training as required.
5. Compliance and Professional Conduct
o Adhere to Illinois state laws and regulations governing CNA practice, including
maintaining an active certification.
o Follow agency policies and procedures related to patient care, safety, and ethical
practice.
o Attend and participate in required training, orientation, and meetings.
Qualifications
Education and Certification:
o High school diploma or equivalent.
o Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
o Current certification as a CNA in Illinois, with proof of passing the state
competency exam.
o Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
Experience:
o Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but not required.
o Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and effective patient care.
Skills and Abilities:
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Knowledge of infection control practices and patient safety procedures.
o Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting and mobility
assistance.
Working Conditions

May involve shifts outside of regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and
