Project Engineer

JOB LOCATION: West End/Pinehurst, NC

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The efficient management of assigned projects. Position has direct responsibility for contract administration, change orders, claims and completion of assigned projects on time within specifications and budget. Candidate will report to the Division Manager, Project Manager, or Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Assist Vice Presidents, Division Manager, and/or Project Manager in estimating, contract development and administration.
2. Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in progress schedules and scheduling support crews and subcontractors.
3. Meet with engineers, architects and clients to coordinate and price required design changes and to negotiate change orders as necessary.
4. Review and evaluate plans and specifications, cost, schedules, job assignments, equipment utilization and needs, personnel needs, and selection and performance of subcontractors.
5. Review and execute plan revisions, work orders and claims as needed.
6. Review accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure proper billing of estimates, cost and payment of completed work.
7. See that new personnel receive proper orientation to acquaint them with company policies, safety requirements, and job responsibilities.
8. Advise managers as to how improvements could be made in such areas as crew sizes, performance methods, techniques, quality work, value engineering, etc.
9. Ensure completion of all work assigned to the division with emphasis on safety, quality, cost and time.
10. Monitor and insist upon compliance of all federal, state and local regulations, OSHA, MSHA, corporate safety, American Disabilities, affirmative action and equal employment regulations and guidelines.
11. Review accounts receivable and accounts payable to assure proper billing of estimates, cost and payment of completed work.
12. Assist and direct personnel in the proper use and maintenance of equipment, improving job performance, controlling cost, increasing productivity, improving communications, and adhering to company policies.
13. Maintain good working relationship with general public, engineers, architects, inspectors, property owners, and customers to facilitate job progress and to promote a positive company image. Develop a courteous and considerate attitude towards these groups.
14. Perform additional duties as required or as directed by the Vice President, Division Manager, or Project Manager.
15. Must have regular and predictable attendance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering Degree.

Work Experience:

• Experience with CADD, Site Work, and Estimating software's.
• Previous working experience with Microsoft Word, Primavera P6 scheduling, Excel and Project are required.
• 2 year's construction experience in heavy highway and commercial grade a plus.
• 2 year's NCDOT experience required.

Other Requirements:

• NCDOT Level II EC Certification & NCDOT Traffic Control Supervisor Certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving light weight material with occasional lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 5 and up to 25 pounds).

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

Position is normally very good working conditions such as an office environment, but may require infrequent work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment may be required. Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
