What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern - Safety Assistant position at S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc.?
We are currently accepting applications for an internship to be based at our Gray, Maine office (but could also be based at our Sidney, Maine or Somersworth, NH office locations) during the summer of 2025 for current students in a 2 or 4-year Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, or other health and safety focused degree or training program. The selected candidate will work as a Health and Safety assistant.
This position will involve both working closely with the Director of Health and Safety, and working independently to assist in the review, creation, maintenance, and distribution of safety documents, including policies, programs, procedures, and training materials. You will also travel to project sites to observe job tasks and analyze potential hazards on site and how we keep our employees safe. We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills, familiarity with recordkeeping and documentation, and someone that is both passionate about workplace safety and eager to learn in a professional setting. You’ll have a chance to participate in our internal safety committee meetings, so communication and public speaking skills will be helpful. We expect that during the program, you will typically work a 40-hour week.
Education requirements:
Current college student with concentration and focus on health and safety.
