Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions for state and local government Finance and Human Resources systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in software development, cloud architectures, microservices, APIs, data architectures, and security principles while also possessing strong strategic planning and stakeholder engagement abilities.
In this role, you will collaborate with government IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and high-performance ERP solutions that meet regulatory and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Solution Design & Architecture
- Design, develop, and document both logical and physical software architecture for enterprise-level solutions.
- Align IT strategies with business objectives and operational goals.
- Ensure performance, security, scalability, and maintainability of architecture solutions.
- Provide expert-level guidance in designing multi-tiered, distributed, and scalable software systems.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks through proactive architectural decisions.
- Conduct system assessments to identify areas for optimization and modernization.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with state and local government agencies, subject matter experts, and vendors to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Lead technical discussions and workshops to define project scope and gather requirements.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Product Owners to ensure project timelines and deliverables align with goals.
Strategic IT Planning & Advisory
- Assist leadership teams in formulating IT strategies and implementation plans.
- Provide expert advice on emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to ERP, cloud solutions, and enterprise integrations.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance frameworks, industry best practices, and state/federal regulations.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and technical teams in architectural best practices.
- Provide technical oversight throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Review and approve technical designs to ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Establish and enforce best practices for software development and architecture.
- Proactively identify and resolve architectural issues and bottlenecks.
- Recommend tools, technologies, and platforms to optimize ERP implementation.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture designs, decisions, and rationale.
- Generate reports on project status, risks, and milestones for senior management and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:Experience:
- 10 years of experience in software development and enterprise architecture.
- Proven expertise in ERP solutions for state and local government, particularly in Finance and Human Resources.
- Experience with cloud architectures, microservices, APIs, data architectures, and security principles.
- Strong background in IT strategic planning, governance, and advisory roles.
Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in architectural design patterns, object-oriented design, and software engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with modern development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps).
- Technology stack:
- Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL
- Business Intelligence: PowerBI, Pentaho
- Programming & Frameworks: Java Spring Boot
- Integration & ETL: Enterprise integration patterns, middleware development, ETL solutions
- Proficiency in database design, data modeling, and big data solutions.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, IT governance, and compliance standards.
- Experience with Enterprise Architect, Visio, or similar tools for architecture design.

Pay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
