Support is required to assist the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) with creating and maintaining the United States Prompt Diagnostic System (USPDS), which falls under the National Technical Nuclear Forensics (NTNF) mission. The NTNF leverages AFTAC to detect, identify, and characterize nuclear events and to report nuclear forensic information to national authorities. The USPDS is a fully integrated, terrestrially based, geographically dispersed, centrally managed prompt detection and reporting system. It provides the ability to collect, process, transmit, and analyze forensic data phenomena. The Network Administrator must have experience in identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring network performance. The Network Administrator will be responsible for the following functions: device IOS updates, maintenance and configuration for routing, maintenance and coordination of commercial circuits from AFTAC to sensor or communications node locations, network availability monitoring, log monitoring and problem monitoring. Additionally, Network Administration personnel will accomplish documentation, including updating continuity folders with current network configuration and maintenance information. These devices will have to comply with CNDSP certification compliance. This candidate must hold an IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security or equivalent) IAW DoD-8570 requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Experience with networking equipment from multiple vendors and ability to perform OS updates and maintenance for remote device routing, maintenance, and coordination of commercial circuits.
- Implement network specifications by conferring with users, analyzing workflow, accessing information, and referring to security requirements.
- Proficient in multiple areas of network and computer hardware/software interconnection, and interface technologies such as switches, routers, firewalls, cellular modems, etc.
- Recommend, plan, and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment.
- Perform and evaluate network availability, log and problem monitoring, and network performance issues.
- Highly proficient working in a Linux environment.
- Plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment.
- Secure network by establishing network access, monitoring, controlling, and evaluation.
- Develop and maintain clear, concise reports of findings, updating continuity folders with current network configuration and maintenance information, and create and deliver presentations.
- Thorough understanding of the OSI model, knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, VPN, and IKE configurations used for circuit management.
