Janitor
Job Overview
We are looking for a part-time Janitor in the Decatur, Texas area. Work will be performed at the Caddo-LBJ National Forest District Office, 1400 N Hwy 81/287, Decatur, Texas 76234. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Workdays: Wednesday and Friday
Work Hours: 5:00 pm for 3 hours per day
Duties and Responsibilities
- Vacuum all carpeting under/around desks, filing cabinets, computer terminals, windows, and walkways. Spot clean carpet as needed and conduct bi-annual carpet shampooing/steam cleaning.
- Dust all rooms, entryways, corridor spaces, including furniture, file cabinets, office equipment, computer desks and windowsills. Damp wipe copiers, fax machines and printers. Clean all conference room tables.
- Empty all wastebaskets and other trash receptacles, placing trash in the outside trash bin and replacing soiled, torn trash receptable liners. Damp wipe trash receptacles. Place recycled material in the recycle storage unit.
- Wash and sanitize toilet fixtures, seat, and urinals. Clean and polish wash basins. Remove splatters around wash basins, counter tops, toilets, and urinals. Treat wash basins, urinals and sinks with suitable scale removers, germicides, and non-fragrant deodorant. Wipe/clean mirrors and fixtures. Sweep and damp mop floor with disinfecting cleaner in restroom and back door entrances. Refill all toilet paper, paper hand towels, soap, and toilet seat dispensers.
- Clean and disinfect kitchen countertop, appliances (including microwave) and sink. Sweep and damp mop the kitchen floor with disinfecting cleaner. Clean kitchen oven.
- Clean all glass areas including countertop and door in reception area.
- Clean chair legs with damp mop to remove shoe/boot dirt.
- Clean and sanitize drinking fountain.
- Sweep and pick up trash on front and back exterior walkways and porches.
- Spot clean doors, door frames, baseboards, and wall switches. Dust pictures and wall hangings. Remove spider webs from ceiling fixtures, window, and porches.
- Clean all window blinds and high dust surfaces 70 inches above floor.
- Remove cobwebs and bugs from inside ceiling light fixtures.
- Wash windows inside and out. Wipe all windowsills, frames, and casings to remove all water so spotting will not occur.
- Maintain cleaning charts and checklists indicating areas that were cleaned and inspected.
- Organize and clean janitorial storage areas. Inventory janitorial supplies.
- Notify Office Manager about unsafe conditions or concerning the need for repairs or maintenance.
- Other duties as needed to support operations.
Qualifications for Janitor
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to communicate in English – to read and interpret written information; ability to write clear statements; ability to communicate orally.
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures and to comply with policies.
- Must be able to do physical work and operate equipment normally found in janitorial operations.
- Must be able to manage time efficiently and to work individually as well as within a team.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $17.75 per hour
