What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspector position at SA Recycling?
SA Recycling, a leader in the metals recycling industry, is looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Inspector. As an Inspector you will be the first point of contact with our suppliers as they bring scrap materials into the yard. The primary responsibilities will be directing traffic to the proper collection site within the yard and documenting supplier loads. The Inspector also directs all other traffic around the job site, promotes a safe working environment, and assists with yard organization, inventory activities, and in the achievement of production goals.
This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Operating hours hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 am to 11:30 am on Saturdays.

- Maintain a broad and working knowledge of different types of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Identify and grade inbound materials, reject unacceptable material, and enter information into SA Recycling’s customer database for processing and payment.
- Assist in the efficient organization and staging of materials to meet production and quality goals.
- Direct equipment and truck traffic around worksite to ensure safe operations.
- Set an example for, and observe employees for adherence to, safety, quality, and environmental goals and guidelines.
- Assist GM with inventory control and auditing functions.
- Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed and assigned.
- High School Diploma, or GED.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in the scrap metal or related industry preferred.
- Knowledge of different types of ferrous and nonferrous material a plus.
- Must be able to use a computer tablet and associated software.
- Heavy equipment operations (skid steer, loader, material handler, etc.) a plus.
- Ability and willingness to work in an outdoor environment and in all types of weather.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills desired.
