Laborer

SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for individuals to join our team as a Laborer. As a Laborer your main responsibilities will be the sorting and processing of materials purchased from our suppliers by type and grading. You will also process, disassemble, and separate various materials; yard clean up and maintenance; and other general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe, effective manner.

This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities Of a Laborer

• Provide a safe environment for all employees, suppliers, and visitors.
• Assist the weighmaster and inspector by providing a positive supplier experience by answering questions; aiding in the unloading and sorting of materials; educating suppliers on acceptable materials; and thanking them for their business.
• Accurate sorting of ferrous and non-ferrous materials into the proper containers and perform additional processing prior to shipping to our customers.
• De-pollute vehicles by removing all fluids, batteries, catalytic converters, etc. following environmental and company guidelines.
• Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.
  
  
  

Qualifications Of a Laborer

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• 1-2 years’ experience in identifying and sorting ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Basic understanding in operating both stationery and mobile equipment.
• Forklift experience required.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
