Position Summary
The Student Engagement Specialist provides intervention to students utilizing skill-based, solution-focused models to help students adopt positive solutions to problems through the teaching of skills and accessing community resources. This position also links students to resources and supports, monitors the services, actively advocates for students, and assists them in navigating through various systems to gain employment. The Student Engagement Specialist will develop and implement a variety of activities to encourage attendance and maintain student engagement in the program.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to drive and transport clients.
Job Function
Provides intensive and professional case management services to students utilizing a strength based model through structured Case Management Conferences.
Promotes self-determination by assisting students in identifying and accessing community services and resources.
Educates students on the needs of good physical health, quality medical attention and preventive health care.
Maintains student records to include updates on Student Choice Plans, Case Notes and Incident Reports in a timely manner.
Develops and implements Student Choice Plans for 100% of caseload, conducting individual weekly reviews with students
Assist the academic coach by providing oversight within workforce training, leadership development, and financial literacy into the instructors classroom instruction, as needed.
Reports any critical incidents involving students or staff according to standard reporting guidelines
Provide support to students while they navigate the program.
Provides help in resume building and applying to jobs before the student graduates from our program.
Monitors and provides direct support in implementation of life skills and job readiness
Works with team members to schedule graduation ceremonies and celebrations as appropriate
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines using good time management skills.
Demonstrate preparation and skill in working in an environment of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Conducts follow up calls for students up to one year post graduation.
Coordinates activities, including guest speakers, to maintain student engagement in the program.
Coordinates the SOAR! department’s outreach events.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education & Experience
License & Certification (Must be maintained throughout employment.)
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
Two (2) years Case Management experience working with historically underserved students in a middle school or high school setting or in a non-profit agency.
