Lead Material Handler

Job Description:

Saab in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Material Handler to join the Manufacturing/ Production team. Responsibilities will include:

• Package, ship and prepare paperwork for all domestic and international shipments
• Complete import paperwork and clear imports with Freight Forwarders
• Work with Freight Forwarder on palletized shipments both domestic and international
• Unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintain records of received goods and reject unsatisfactory items
• Pick, kit and issue production materials to various departments within the company
• Examine, stock and distribute materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines
• Perform inventory and daily cycle counts
• Acquire quotes from Freight Forwarder for future incoming & outgoing shipments
• Lift heavy items and operate a forklift
• Maintain off site warehouse
• Resolve complex stockroom issues

Compensation Range: $23- $27.50/ hr

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

• 2 years of relevant experience
• Prior experience with best commercial packaging practices
• Working knowledge of Oracle MRP Inventory Management principles and Shipping/Receiving modules
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of MS Excel and Oracle (or similar accounting system) desired
• Forklift certification
• Active CDL License
