Accounting Manager
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review and approve journal entries throughout the month and at month end close and ensure that proper documentation is provided.
- Prepare journal entries and provide proper support with a clear audit trail.
- Provide direct oversight and leadership to the accounting team
- Review account reconciliations to ensure that they are prepared correctly and have the proper support for the reconciliation. Follow up to ensure reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.
- Prepare more complex account reconciliations and research reconciling items to ensure they are cleared in a timely manner.
- Assist the director in the preparation of the cash forecast.
- Assist in obtaining supporting documentation related to audit requests. Along with being able to work with the auditors to resolve any questions.
- Interact with multiple key stakeholders at all levels of the organization and report on financial performance.
- Review and analysis of financial statements to ensure items are properly coded.
- Research requests from other departments related to financial impact queries.
- Assisting in the documentation of standard operating procedures related to the finance department and ensuring the proper controls are in place.
- Review the billable activities with the Program Managers and prepare the invoices.
- Supervise the procurement process.
- Demonstrated experience working with multiple contracting formats, including cost-reimbursable, T&M, and Firm-Fixed-Price.
- Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and other government regulations required.
Experience/Education Required:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Five years experience working in a government cost accounting environment
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
- Previous experience with accounting software such as Unanet
- Ability to be agile and work in a fast-paced environment, with sometimes shifting priorities
- Team player with the ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience with government contracting
Work Model:
Hybrid. Required to be available to be in one of our offices in Lexington Park, MD, or Rockledge, FL
