The Associate Director, Content Strategist is a creative soul with strategic communications chops who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. Equal parts scientist and storyteller, the most qualified candidate for this role should be inspired by how to find the balance and opportunities between creativity and logic. In the day-to-day work, this means you’ll be translating business and communications objectives into insights-driven content strategies and creative frameworks that successfully meet user objectives.
A broader understanding of current trends and culture are paramount to this role, but your combined superpower is the ability to model ‘outside in’ thinking to apply relevancy, meaning and context that bring to life the reputational stories we tell about the Walmart brand.

You’ll make an impact by:
- Gathering and analyzing internal and external data and research about key audiences, competitors and platforms with the goal of exploring inventive uses of media and unique distribution methods to tell our story better and enhance content performance
- Developing creative briefs infused with meaningful, strategic guardrails (the why) that point creativity in the direction of greatest impact, including current relevancy across culture, media and technology trends.
- Creating compelling content strategies for integrated campaigns with broad distribution plans
- Experimenting with new ideas inspired by trends to connect audiences in authentic ways
- Conducting cross-functional brainstorms that generate creative ideas for content campaigns and effectively shape captivating and dynamic creative recommendations
- Being a creative problem-solver with a passion for thoughtful, unique and strategic content creation

- You have a knack for explaining creative concepts to non-creative audiences
- You exude exceptional executive presence, interpersonal skills and know how to build influence
- You have agency experience or have worked closely with agency partners
- You thrive in close partnerships to bring content to life from concept to completion
- You have proven experience managing multiple deadlines simultaneously and strong organizational and project management skills
- You are able to think on your feet every day, pivot and masterfully multitask
- You are a student of trends in social, culture and technology, and delight in finding inventive uses of media to tell unforgettable stories
- Have 8-10 years’ experience
