Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Program Director Summary
The Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Program Director is responsible for assessing the needs of adult dual diagnosed patients. Provides psycho education on the disease model of treatment. The CADC provides individual and group therapies consistent with the plan of treatment.
Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Program Director Responsibilities and Duties
Assessment:
- Complete an Alcohol and Substance Abuse (Drug) Assessment using the CADC Audit tool to assess the patient’s recovery needs.
- Assess the discharge/aftercare needs of the detox and/or dual diagnosed patients and facilitate the linkage to required services.
- Assess each patient’s level of functioning and ability to return to the community.
Therapy:
- Conduct daily substance abuse group meetings.
- Conduct individual counseling for patients assigned for care.
- Prepare and lead education groups on the disease model of treatment.
- Prepare and facilitate a relapse prevention group.
- Complete daily progress notes.
- Coordinate with the Chicago Chapters of Alcohol and Narcotics Anonymous to establish and maintain “institutional” (closed) groups for Outpatient Mental Health Services at the hospital.
- Serve as an effective role model for interpersonal communication and problem-solving, while working with patients and fellow staff members in the therapeutic milieu.
- Identify measurable goals, share plan of care and goals with the patient, family members, and staff.
- Follow policy related to patients in restraints.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients.
- Observe patients and record significant conditions and reactions. Notify supervisor or physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatment, and significant incidents.
- Update the care plan to include problems and interventions for alcohol and substance abuse.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Quality Improvement/Safety:
- Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrate a consistent awareness of safety and infection control practices.
- Document appropriately including nursing interventions; patient responses; patient and family teaching; and discharge planning.
- Advocate and support unit, hospital, and nursing activities.
- Achieve and maintain competency in skills and comply with policies associated with the skills inventory.
- Share knowledge and expertise by participating in patient care conferences, in-service education, and serving on nursing committees. Research current trends in nursing practices and technology.
- Maintain personal education record.
Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Program Director Must Have:
- Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC)
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the substance abuse field

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
